The University of Hull has launched an exciting, innovative personal success plan for students, designed to support them whilst studying and living at the University.
Helping students reach their potential and equipping them to perform at their best, the plan centres around four key themes, from positivity to health and wellbeing.
Team GB Sprinter Margaret Adeoye, currently developing her own personal success on the way to the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games (now due to take place in summer 2021), has helped to develop the themes. Margaret brings an elite and organised mindset, acting as a fantastic role model for students.
Tim Ellerton, Team GB Commercial Director, said: “We’re really pleased to once again be working closely with the University to deliver something positive and impactful for the student population at Hull. Team GB takes great pride in its athletes who are everyday people achieving extraordinary things, and feel that athlete insights and the personal success plan itself will help students achieve their goals and aspirations.”
In partnership with Margaret, the project has been developed through various stages of lockdown by both academic and professional staff from different departments at the University, such as Hull Sport and Student Services and Careers.
The plan will involve each student working through the content of the four themes, and then completing fun and enjoyable exercises to put their learnings into practice. Once each of the four themes has been completed, they will be encouraged to create an action plan to share with their personal supervisor, building on what they have learned in the programme.
The four key themes are:
- Positivity – learning why it is beneficial to always remain positive, and how to create a positive mindset even during tough times.
- Reflection – learning how to use reflection as an important tool to develop, grow and to overcome any challenges they may face.
- Personal success and maximising opportunities – learning techniques such as goal setting, and good habits to get into in order to achieve those goals.
- Health and wellbeing – a healthy body and a healthy mind are paramount to success. This programme will teach the students top tips and tricks for looking after both their own health and wellbeing, and those of others.
Students can login to the portal on this page, which will automatically give them access to the plan.
