Summary

Dr Abigail Daniels is a Clinical Psychologist and the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Lead at the University of Hull Clinical Psychology Doctorate Course; Faculty of Health Sciences. She is also an Independent EDI Consultant and Trainer. She is passionate about social equity, being a change-maker and authentic leadership. Abigail keenly applies psychological principles to organisational contexts and enjoys systemic working, seeing this as a means to facilitate long-term societal change.

Prior her current role, Abigail most recently worked as Covid-19 Psychologist and Lead Psychologist at a Long Covid Rehabilitation Service. Her clinical experience spans the age range and healthcare context, having worked in both hospital and community settings.

Abigail is an enthusiastic researcher and conducted her doctoral thesis ‘Exploring experiences of discrimination and mental health implications’ utilising a Grounded theory methodology. She is currently Co-Investigator in the NORM WELLBEING research project, in partnership with Youth Aspire Connect and University of Hertfordshire, funded by The Ideas Fund. The Project will co-create toolkits and creative outputs to support young people, parents and community leaders in Hull to destigmatise and normalise conversations about mental health and wellbeing among young people who are racially minoritised.

Her research experiences reflect her areas of passion, understanding and supporting those in distress as well as her drive for creating an equitable society.

Abigail is a past scholar of the Healthcare Leadership academy where she was also a speaker at their winter conference, discussing impactful solutions for the challenges faced by todays health workforce. She is a confident communicator and has pubic speaking experience as a participant on range of event panels. She represented a UK team at the International conference 5th Annual MENA Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation CONGRESS offering early reflections of her experiences offering Psychological support to individuals with Long Covid.
