

Our Centre was established at the University in 1962. Over time it has developed an enviable reputation for excellence in both teaching and research. The Centre's academic staff enjoys national and international recognition of their expertise in diverse aspects of South-East Asian studies, ranging from early history to contemporary social, economic and political dimensions of the region.
Important note: From August 2003, the Centre will be transferring to the Department of East Asian Studies at the University of Leeds over a two year period. We will offer a wide range of modules and courses in South-East Asian Studies at Leeds from this date.
