The Surfactants & Colloids Workshop at Hull a
great success
The Surfactant & Colloid Group at the Department
of Chemistry at Hull
has held a very successful workshop on Surfactants and Colloids on 25 May 2004.
The list of workshop speakers included internationally recognised figures like
Prof. Brian Vincent, who is the head of the Polymer & Colloid Group at the
School of Chemistry of Bristol University, Dr. Colin Bain, who’s group is a
part of the Physical & Theoretical Chemistry Lab at the Department of
Chemistry of the University of Oxford and Prof. Orlin
Velev, who leads the Colloids and Nanoscience
Engineering group at the Department of Chemical Engineering of North Carolina
State University. Talks were also given
by the senior members of the Surfactant & Colloid Group: Prof. Bob Aveyard, Prof. Paul Fletcher, Prof. Bernie Binks, Dr. John Clint and Dr. Vesko
Paunov as well as the graduate students Mr. Brian Prevo and Mr. Ketan Bhatt from
Prof. Velev’s group at NCSU. The poster session at the workshop was
presented by our graduate students and post-docs in an informal and stimulating
atmosphere. Dr. Paunov, who organised and chaired the workshop this year,
intends to establish it as a regular annual event following the positive
feedback from our guests and group members. Many thanks to
all our students and post-docs who helped with the organisation of the poster
session.
