Maria Pervolaraki

MPhys Applied Physics

" My name is Maria Pervolaraki and I graduated from the 2nd general lyceum at Heraklio, Crete in Greece. By then I had decided that I wanted to study physics. My choice fell on Hull, which has a good level of physics and a beautiful marina. I started my first degree in a friendly department with many international students. I had the luck to spend the third year of my MPhys degree programme at the Czech Technical University in Prague supported by the Erasmus exchange programme. During my final year I attended an intensive ten-day course in Laser Technology at the Fachhochschule in a small but wonderful town called Emden in Germany.
I completed my MPhys in Applied Physics with Laser Technology and subsequently received a scholarship to continue my studies at PhD level in the Laser group at Hull University. During my PhD I attended two conferences -- the Conference on Laser Ablation COLA and the Rank Symposium. I was also a visiting PhD student at the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland."
