Hill Walking in the Lakes

"Well we are back and everyone survived just" On the weekend of the 4th , 6 mad dunkards departed from Hull Destination :- Hell on Earth ( Lake District actually ).
This trip was organised by our now chairperson Mark so that could mean either of two things:- I will not spoil it by telling you which one

Saturday

We met the some of the Lancaster SSAGO and their Postgraduate version on the saturday afternoon ( early ) due to the apathy of the travelers ( who were all still hung over from the night before ) not wanting to do any walking / site seeing on the way.

After everyone calmed down, from panicing that we were early ( and Mark had stopped showing us interesting things like where he used to live and which blade of grass he sat on once ) it was decided to go to the Pub for a drink ( suprise suprise ).
Then back to the hut we were sleeping in for silly games etc.

Sunday

Woke up at the crack of dawn, dressed then headed out ( with Lancaster lot ) for some breakfast. With the superp driving ability of myself we soon headed out of Lancaster ( into the unknown ).
With Mark navigating and Rachel shouting out pricing of petrol for unknown reasons ( what ever turns you on ) we spotted our destination Great Gable ( it was huge )

So we started to climb slowly, and this was the easy bit! We stopped at something called a tarn ( looked like a small lake to me ) and had a rest ( the blob of clothes at the bottom is actually me asleep ). The Resting Mad

Then things started to get really tough ( for Tony and myself at least ) scrambling up a scree slope , with lizzie narrowly missing a falling bolder. ( it was at this point I could have killed Mark for dragging me up this rock ) So there we were almost 3000ft up at I was making me peace with the world. Then came that infamous saying " Look at that VIEW "
Last view of life

well that did it it fuelled me with enough anger for Mark to reach the top ( " If I was going to die then Mark was coming with me ") At the top I collapsed not enough energy to sneeze let alone be mad at anyone and the view was inpressive so I was happy again , The only way to go now was down.

That evening we had a curry to show our bodies some thanks and then back to the hut for sleep.

Monday

The tired travelers return home to safe flat Hull

So all in all a very good weekend some Up's and downs ( More downs next time please )
Our thanks go to Mark and all the friendly people we met in Lancaster.
