Common Toadflax

Widely distributed and often abundant in a variety of habitats. Most frequently found on railway lines and embankments but also in grassy places and at the roadside.

Linaria purpurea

Purple Toadflax

Single plant on roadside verge of new housing development. A garden escape? Naturalised near William Wright Dock.

Linaria repens

Pale Toadflax

Only on old railway track and dockland waste. It is particularly common on the old sidings east of Priory Way (02N) where it hybridises with L. vulgaris producing vigorous plants varying in form between the two parents.

Single plant growing in mown grass near the lodge of Hull City Cemetery, Hedon Road.

Not particularly widespread, usually in grassy places.

In land drains, not as widespread as anticipated.

Not seen within the city boundary.

Holderness drain where it is crossed by Saltshouse Road (13G). The 13L record is for the margin of the small pond next to Bilton Church. This is not within the city boundary but it is a typical habitat for the plant.

A small plant which is often overlooked. Mainly found at roadside and growing between cracks in the pavement.

Only one record so far - my allotment where it grows as a weed. 1997 update - found on imported soil, Clough Road.
