PLANTAGINACEAE

Plantago

Plantago coronopus

Buck's-horn Plantain

Mainly along the Humber bank. An unexpected site was on the roundabout at the junction of Holwell Road and Nidderdale on Brasholme Estate. A flourishing colony of P. coronopus grows on the margin, presumably as a result of winter road salting.

Plantago maritima

Sea Plantain

Common along the Humber foreshore and bank.

Plantago major

Greater Plantain

As a weed in lawns and verges everywhere, very common.

Plantago lanceolata

Ribwort Plantain

Similar situations to P. major and in longer grass.
