I think that this species is much more widespread than indicated but lack the confidence to distinguish it from L. purpureum in most instances.

Lamium amplexicaule

Henbit Dead-nettle

A single plant growing on the newly created flower bed outside the Mecca bingo hall on Clough Road. The bed was obviously constructed with imported sandy soil.

[genus index] [family index] [Scientific index] [English index] [main index]

Galeopsis

Hemp-nettle

The plants were obviously Hemp-nettles but in the absence of flowering material they can only be tentatively assigned to G. tetrahit.

Scutellaria

Scutellaria galericulata

Skullcap

A single plant growing on the eastern margin of the Barmston Drain to the south of Clough Road. It has been known at this locality for many years. Many years ago it grew in the ditch which passes under County Road North (03Q). This ditch has been recently cleaned and the Scullcap could not be re-located.
