Saltmarsh Rush

Adjacent to the west bank of the River Hull south of Ennerdale Sports Centre. Present in some quantity. Priory Sidings, Ray Eades 1997.

Juncus bufonius

Toad Rush

Of the three separate occurences, two were in shrubberies - had they been introduced with mulches or compost? The other colony was at the roadside on Bransholme Estate.

Juncus articulatus

Jointed Rush

On the wetter parts of the old railway sidings east of Priory Way (02N). The other occurence was a ditch to the north west of Bransholme.

Juncus inflexus

Hard Rush

Quite common on wet, grassy sites.

Juncus effusus

Soft Rush

Wet grassland and ditches.

Juncus conglomeratus

Compact Rush

Possibly under-recorded.

Luzula

Luzula campestris

Field Wood-rush

Found on relics of old grassland, Priory Road fields, a meadow at Ganstead and the fields between the old railway and Sutton Trod to the west of Sutton Road (13B). The latter site is the only one known within the city boundary.
