CONVOLVULACEAE

Convolvulus

Convolvulus arvensis

Field Bindweed

Common on open sites throughout. Probably more common than above distribution data would suggest as only flowering plants were recorded to avoid any confusion with Fallopia convolvulus. I am, however, now convinced that the leaves are sufficiently distinct to determine the vegetative growth with confidence.

Calystegia

Calystegia sepium

Hedge Bindweed

This native species is much less common than the larger flowered C. silvatica. It seems to be associated with old water courses, often long since filled in.

Calystegia silvatica

Large Bindweed

Very common in hedges and on waste ground everywhere.

Calystegia sp.

Bindweed

Early season records - no flowers.
