Found only on a verge adjacent to the sea wall at St Andrew's Quay. This plant is now spreading along the motorway network as a result of the widespread use of salt as a de-icer in the winter.

Usually found on roadside grass verges, particularly adjacent to the path and around lamp-posts. Is this plant resistant to the herbicide sprays now used in these situations? It is certainly much more common than it was ten years ago. Also found on the bark mulches used on some municipal rose beds.

Apart from a single plant growing on a bark mulch on Holderness Road, it was only found on the old railway sidings at the south west of the city. It is rather abundant here.
