Much of my professional (and far too much of my personal) time is spent developing computer software. After twenty years of this I have almost abandoned my quest for the "improved wheel" and most of my time is now spent producing programs which do not already exist or are too expensive to purchase. Many of these involve the conversion of data from one format to another to link commercial packages - e.g. Idrisi and ArcView. All programs are written in Borland Pascal type languages, DOS versions in Turbo Pascal and Windows versions in Delphi.
