UNLOCKED MEMORIES: SPARKING OFF YOUR MEMORIES Here are some of the beginning sentences to 'spark off your memories'. Hopefully, you can find them useful whilst using this website to write your own life story. Give it a go. Complete some of the following sentences and gradually work your way through this and other lists. You will then begin to build up different 'jig-saw' pieces of your life. Do not worry if they do not all fit together perfectly at first or follow any chronological order. Simply write, and then write some more. Applying my version of Kipling's 7WH formula to your life: I REMEMBER WHEN... I first went to school / I had my first accident / I believed in Father Christmas / I had a childhood holiday / I first fell in love / I felt lonely / I let someone down badly / I met someone famous / We moved house / Kennedy was shot / Princess Diana was killed I REMEMBER WHERE... I grew up / I played games [and which ones] / I saw my sweetheart / I had to face the facts I REMEMBER WHY... I believe in God / I do not believe / I quit a job / I had to tell a lie I REMEMBER THEM... Our gang / A teacher / A boss / A good friend / A kind neighbour / An enemy or evil person I REMEMBER WHO... Helped me out / Gave me confidence / Caused me embarrassment / Did me wrong / Showed me love / Saved my life I REMEMBER HOW... I learned to ride a bike / I took a stand / I broke the law / I saved someone or an animal I REMEMBER WHAT... I used to save or collect as a child (stamps, flowers, marbles, car registration numbers or whatever) / I did at school / Expressions or old sayings (in our family or community) |
