From this page you can download a Profile for installation on your iPhone, iPad or iPodTouch that enables you to access the WWW on the eduroam WiFi network, not just at the University of Hull, but at any educational institution in Europe, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Canada, Papua-New Guinea and China that uses the eduroam network. It is also spreading in the USA. For a European list (including Turkey and Israel), click here. For USA, click here. Please note that your Apple mobile device must be running software 2.0 or higher.
Note: It is probable that this will also work for the new Apple iPad, but I have not yet tested this.
Click on the link below to download the file eduroam.mobileconfig.zip on any internet-connected computer. Then unzip the file and E-mail the unzipped file to yourself.

Installation Instructions
1. On your mobile device, using your home network, open the E-mail and double-click on the Profile attachment. Click on Install.
2. Installation will require your University username and password. When installed, you can see the Profile on: Settings -> General -> Profile
3. Take your handheld device to a campus WiFi hotspot. Your device should show a WiFi signal in the top left-hand corner of the screen if the eduroam network has been detected. Click on Settings -> Wi-Fi. eduroam will appear under Choose a Network... with a tick in front of it. If some other network has the tick, click on eduroam and the tick will move.
4. Click on the blue arrow of eduroam. On the page that opens, scroll to the bottom to reach HTTP Proxy. Click on Manual. In the box that opens, enter slb-webcache.hull.ac.uk in the Server box and 3128 in the Port box. Close the screen.
5. You are now able to use any application on your portable device which uses HTTP or RSS protocols, e.g. Safari, YouTube, Maps.
It is possible to configure the Profile to allow you to send and receive e-mail and to gain access to the Exchange server. This requires editing the Profile using iPhone Configuration Utility.app, which can be downloaded from here for Macintosh OSX and from here for Windows.
Alternatively you can enter the settings for the University E-mail system directly. Instructions can be found here.
