Scour protection around offshore wind turbine foundations C.Collilns, University of Hull Abstract This project will investigate optimal design of scour protection devices by simulation of the hydrodynamics of scour using a single-phase Volume of Fluid (VOF) methodology with a moving sediment bed interface. The bed shear stress distribution will be used to compute bed displacements where the shear exceeds the critical shear stress. Bed displacement will be incorporated by adapting the underlying computational mesh, hence allowing for a full transient simulation of the scour process.
