Laboratories

We are based in laboratories on the second floor of the Fenner Building. Click here for campus map.

The Royal Society & Wolfson Foundation Photonics Laboratory

The newly refurbished lab was officially opened in March 2003. The lab is home to our semiconductor device processing facilities - for example, sample polishing, wire bonding and vapour deposition. Characterisation of our TPV devices - photo I-V, C-V, spectral response - is also performed here. A Digilab FTS-3000 FTIR is housed in another part of the lab.

Clean Room

Part of the Photonics Suite, the clean room has recently been refurbished, and now houses semiconductor device processing facilities - for example, a mask aligner, photoresist spinner, vapour deposition equipment.

Optoelectronic Lab 1

Characterisation of our QWIP devices is carried out in this lab. The lab is equipped with a Bruker IFS66 FTIR and an Oxford Instruments cryostat, allowing us to carry out optical measurements from 77K to room temperature.

Optoelectronic Lab 2

Dr. I. Itskevich and Dr. S. Rybchenko have recently moved into this room following refurbishment work.
