The Reverend Thomas Preston (1742-1827) was vicar of Scalby from 1773 and his papers include over 500 letters filled with local church news; account books filled with tithe rents and information about his considerable property and financial affairs and his will [DDPR/47/3-5; DDPR/50/3-14; DDPR/56/14].
