
These papers relate to the Warter estates of the Pennington family and include several miscellaneous religious archives such as the 1668 receipt for the fee farm rent for Warter Priory paid to Queen Henrietta Maria [DDWA/6/8]; a paper on 'The Ancient custom of tithe wool' circa 1720 [DDWA/6/18]; rental receipts to the Dean of York ("a stiff, rigid and griping churchman"!) [DDWA/6/32]; receipts for the salaries of the Reverend Thomas Remington and the Reverend William Clarke 1730 and 1771-9 [DDWA/6/36] and an original bundle of parish records including the constable's account book 1684-1754 (with related papers) and copies of the glebe terrier 1763-1825 [DDWA/6/72-83].
