Lloyd-Greame family papers

The Lloyd-Greame family bought estates at Sewerby in the early 18th century. Their papers include many religious manuscripts including records, plans and specifications of the building of Sewerby church and organ 1845-1888 and the parsonage 1864-1909. Related correspondence includes some from the Archbishop of York and the Bishop of Ripon [DDLG/30/382, 824-842] and parish records which include a churchwarden's account book 1849-1919, an overseers of the poor account book 1756-1804, the constables' account books 1718-1836, surveyors of highways account books 1836-1867 as well as their financial statements and highway rate books 1838-1895 [DDLG/30/855-895]. Other items include the 1594 assignment of Bessingby chapel with all tithes (formerly the property of Bridlington Priory) [DDLG/3/1]; a 1684 justice's warrant to levy fines on a conventicle held in Bridlington [DDLG/5/32]; copies of 17th century ministers' accounts for the chapelry of Buckton [DDLG/6/1]; a bundle of papers of Lord James Cavendish, rector of Foston, with glebe lands and tithes 1730 and the 1783 sale for £10,000 of the rectory [DDLG/15/92, 111]; 19th century surveys of tithes for Great Kelk and Gembling [DDLG/15/4]; papers about the prebend of Grindale including an extract from the 1650 parliamentary survey of benefices, six plans of the new church in 1873 and related correspondence and an 1892 list of subscribers to a stained glass window [DDLG/16/8-33, 148, 156; DDLG/46/17]; a bundle of papers relating to tithes at Middleton 1608-1846 [DDLG/40/20-27] and papers relating to the York Diocesan Trust 1896 [DDLG/48/28] (see also Yarburgh Gamaliel Lloyd-Greame).
