Burton family papers

The Burton family held land in Cherry Burton from 1783 and this collection is dominated by their estate papers. However, there are a number of miscellaneous religious manuscripts including manorial records for Beverley chapter, 17th century assessment records, a list of the small rents for the archidiaconate of Richmond and 18th century sacrament certificates [DDCB/2]; an 1837 valuation of tithes for Cherry Burton [DDCB/4/47]; title papers of the Reverend Robert Barker 1737-1797 and his will [DDCB/4/101, 167, 187, 190-193, 234, 236, 243-249, 284]; the Cherry Burton tithe award 1841 [DDCB/4/341]; rentals of provost rents for Cherry Burton 1804 and 1823 [DDC/4/267, 273]; some extracts of parish registers [DDCB/4/159] and the rules and orders of a general meeting of the clergy to provide for needy clerical families, widows and orphans and an 1807 list of subscribers [DDCB/21/33]. There is also a bundle of receipts 1758-1785 for the tithe rent of Bygate Wood, Lockington [DDCB/9/3].
