This database is a
counterpart to the Quaker Archives Database
maintained by Leeds University Library, which covers the records in the
Carlton Hill collection (and thereby a large swathe of the West and North
Ridings). The minute books of the following Monthly Meetings have been indexed under the auspices of the project (a complete list
is available):
- Malton (1669-1788)
- Scarborough (1669-1788)
- Pickering (1788-1858)
- Kelk (later Bridlington) (1669-1773)
- Elloughton (later Cave) (1669-1784)
- Owstwick (1669-1784)
- Owstwick and Cave (later Hull) (1784-1858)
- Pickering and Hull (1859 to date)
These records are held mainly at the Brynmor Jones Library, University of
Hull, but also at the East Riding of Yorkshire Archives Service. Work has also been
completed on records of sufferings and membership registers.
A decision was made during the project not to index records of births, marriages and burials, and to
concentrate on minutes, which are less accessible to family historians.
The indexing was undertaken by a group of volunteers, under the
supervision of the project archivist. Return
