MA in Maritime History
Navigation: Back to Maritime History Programmes
The MA in Maritime History offers the opportunity
to combine a thorough grounding in research skills with
detailed study of different facets of maritime history.
As well as providing training in
the techniques and methodologies of historical research,
this distinctive programme allows specialisation in
fields such as British merchant shipping since 1800,
European fisheries history, the ship in history and
20th-century naval history. A dissertation, based on
primary research in one of these areas, completes the
programme. With a full range of archival, library, IT
and other resources, the University of Hull located
in a vibrant port-city is extremely well placed
to provide this innovative Masters programme.
This MA in Maritime History is
available as a one year full-time or two year part-time
programme and is taught by a strong complement of specialist
maritime and naval historians at the MHSC. Other members
of the History Department teach the various research
training modules that are offered.
If you would like more information about our MA in Maritime History, or if you would like to talk about funding opportunites, then please contact Dr Richard Gorski (e-mail: r.c.gorski@hull.ac.uk, telephone: 01482 465183).
