RESEARCH and PROJECTS at the MHSC
The MHSC is fully
equipped to undertake research into the maritime dimensions
of history. Its permanent base at Blaydes
House, High Street, Hull, provides workstations
for research fellows and PhD students as well as a specialist
maritime history reference library. The excellent research
resources of Hull Record Office, the Central Library,
Hull Maritime Museum, Trinity House and Hull's Museum
Quarter (including 'The Deep') are located within walking
distance of Blaydes House, while the University's Brynmor Jones Library houses important collections
of shipping records.
Two main forms of research are conducted by the MHSC. Firstly, there is externally-funded project work carried out by the Centre's lecturers and research fellows, generally on a team basis. Secondly, individual research investigations are undertake by PhD students and by the MHSC's lecturers Aden honorary research fellows
