Annual Venn Lecture
The Centre for Mathematics of the University of Hull hosts the Annual Venn Lecture which is held in honour of John Venn (4 August 1834 - 4 April 1923), who was born in Hull and is best known for the diagrams named after him which are used to represent sets and their intersections and unions.
The aim of this lecture series is to invite distinguished speakers to convey the beauty of mathematics and its fascinating applications in the real world to a wider audience of non-specialists, young people of all ages with an interest in the sciences. The lecture is held in the Spring.
