Before September 2005, the Centre for Mathematics was known as the Department of Mathematics. Since becoming the Centre for Mathematics, no new degree programmes are offered, although programmes started during 2003 and 2004 will continue to be supported until completion. The Centre also provides teaching of degree modules for mathematical disciplines within programmes offered by other departments at the University of Hull.

The international reputation for Research in a friendly and personal atmosphere that the Department enjoyed, is still applicable today.
