You may now book Brynmor Jones Library Short Loan items for a specific date and time so that you can plan your work in advance. You may have 4 bookings at any one time, but only one booking per item.
How To Make A Booking
Bookings can be made in person, by telephone 01482 465440 or by yourself on the Library catalogue which is available via the internet at http://library.hull.ac.uk/ . Please have the author and title of the material you wish to book as well as your student/staff barcode number.
To make a booking when only one copy is Short Loan -
- Find the item on the Library Catalogue; check that the item is listed under the location column as Short Loan
- Click on the title
- On the right of the screen click Book this Material box
- Enter family/surname
- Enter barcode, the number shown underneath the barcode on your student/staff card
- Click submit
- Select begin and end time for when you require to book the material. Please ensure you show a.m./p.m. correctly. The booking period may not exceed 24 hours other than during periods when Short Loan is closed e.g. Sundays or Bank Holidays. Bookings must be collected within one hour of the start of the booking period after which bookings may be cancelled if the item is required by another user. You may collect your booking earlier than the booked time, if it is available, but it will be issued for up to 24 hours from that time, not your original booking period.
- Submit
- The screen will confirm the time and date of the booking. Please check this to ensure it is correct.
- Click OK
To make a booking when there is more than one Short Loan copy-
- Find the item on the Library catalogue, it will list the copies. If multiple copies are shown as being located in Short Loan continue as follows -
- On the right of the screen click Book this Material box
- Enter family/surname
- Enter barcode, the number shown underneath the barcode on your student/staff card
- Click submit
- Select begin time for when you require to book the material. Please ensure you shown a.m/p.m. correctly. Bookings must be collected within one hour of the start of the booking period after which bookings may be cancelled if the item is required by another user. You may collect your booking earlier than the booked time, if it is available, but it will be issued for up to 24 hours from that time, not your original booking period
- Submit
- The Short Loan copies will be listed. Select the copy you wish to book by clicking in the circle under the Mark column
- Submit
- The screen will confirm the time and date of the booking. Please check this to ensure it is correct
- Click OK
In both cases if the information submitted does not permit the booking to be made then an appropriate message will display, e.g. booking period has exceeded the maximum. Amend the information where appropriate and resubmit.
Checking Your Bookings
You can check when you have made bookings. To do this click on My Library Account on the Library catalogue, submit your name and barcode number. A list of bookings made will be shown.
Cancellation
If you no longer need an item you have booked, please cancel it so that someone else can use it. To do this, go into My Library Account. Insert your name and barcode number. An option is given to cancel all or cancel selected bookings. Select the required option, if choosing selected, click against those requiring cancellation, a tick will appear.
Next click cancel selected.
The bookings will cancel and the screen will show confirmation.
Renewals
Short Loan items are not renewable. When returning an item to Short Loan if you need to borrow it again please ask if it may be checked out again. Staff will then re-issue the item if it is available to borrow. You will need your Student /Staff Card to take out the item again. The loan period may be less than 24 hours if the item has already been booked.
