A lecturer at postgraduate level in Coastal Zone Management and an ecologist with a wide experience of ornithological, benthic, botanical, and entomological surveys, community analyses, biotope mapping and environmental assessment.
Senior Ornithologist with IECS he has carried out research of avifaunal communities
in marine, estuarine and terrestrial habitats, as well as a series of desk
studies, construction and mitigation guidelines for developers and impact
assessments in the context of European Marine Site integrity. He has a wide
experience of invertebrate assessment work and is currently involved
in ongoing biological studies at Saltend. He has a wide experience of water
quality monitoring as well as carrying out assessments of effluent dispersion and ecosystem effects from a number of environmental assessments. He is organiser of the Humber north bank WeBS ornithological counts, on the steering group of the Humber low tide count initiative and is a member of the Birds of the Humber Trust.
work has included a series of ornithological studies for offshore windfarm
developments using NERI based methods. He is currently investigating the impacts
of a port development project on estuarine waterfowl communities, with particular
reference to the integrity of SPA/SAC
interest features, together with the development of compensatory habitats in
relation to port land-claim.
