The Physical Setting

The Canary islands are situated in the North Atlantic Ocean, a few degrees north of the Tropic of Cancer and a little over 100km from the African coast.

  • Longitude 16 o 40’ W
  • The Canary Islands, together with the Azores, Madeira, Cape Verde and Salvage Islands, are collectively known as Macaronesia
