Summary

Ian's background is in languages and linguistics, and he now works mainly in the field of TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) and teacher education. Since joining the University of Hull, he has held a variety of roles including: EFL tutor, Italian lector and coordinating support in the Shoosmith Language Learning Centre. Ian previously worked as an EFL tutor in Italy, developing interests in English for academic purposes, business English and English for specific purposes by delivering courses for the Italian Army. He holds a lifelong passion for languages, language learning and teaching. Working with fellow module tutor and colleagues to integrate teaching practice sessions with real language learners into Language Learning and Teaching module, thus increasing authenticity for participants.
