The University of Hull

eReSS consortium

Investigating and building a resource to support interoperability in the development of Virtual Research Environments is no small task. The eReSS study has thus drawn together a number of partners to assist with this. The consortium members fulfill two criteria:
  • They offer a global view of research developments and the associated development of supporting standards and technologies that can enable interoperability
  • They offer a spectrum of sectoral perspectives to ensure all areas of research are supported through the study
These criteria recognise that research, and particularly eResearch, is a global activity. They also recognise that research encompasses many different aspects, from application use and management through to information discovery and management, and research administration. A VRE potentially needs to support all of these and the consortium members will provide an insight to the different requirements that need to be brought together.
