Design, Materials and Process Performance
- The group conducts research on: stress analysis, capable design in electronics, novel viscoelastic prestressing mechanisms, the technique and applications of transmission line modelling, use of state-of-the art lasers for materials processing and materials characterization studies, circuit and system test and architectures for fault-tolerance and control.
- The group includes the BAE Stress Analysis Centre (the only one of its type fully-funded by BAE Systems) http://www.eng.hull.ac.uk/enghome/research/design1.html
Medical Engineering
- The Medical Engineering group undertakes medical and biological engineering research, with current and recent supporters of our research including BBSRC, Department of Health, EPSRC, Leverhulme, MRC and the Royal Society.
- The group is the lead member of the Centre for Medical Engineering and Technology (CMET), which acts as a focus for medical engineering activities in the University of Hull, and brings together a broad range of activities associated with medical and biological engineering. http://www.eng.hull.ac.uk/enghome/research/medical1.html
Environment, Energy and Sensors
- The group brings together research relating to environmental sensors, environmental monitoring, environmental impact, sustainability and sensor networks. It combines expertise in Acoustics, Communications, Fluid Dynamics and Semiconductor Opto-electronic Devices. As well as building on the expertise of senior staff in these areas it incorporates new members of staff in communications and thermo-fluid CFD. Additionally it is the base for a research initiative in sensor networks and research on the working life and properties of nuclear reactor graphite. http://www.eng.hull.ac.uk/enghome/research/enviro1.html
