Welcome to the Parish of Hornsea

Hornsea is situated on the Holderness coast 24 km from the Hull City boundary. The population of the town is 7934 (1991 Census), an increase of 771 since the 1981 Census. The town is situated on the east coast midway between Spurn Peninsula and Flamborough Head. Hornsea is an attractive seaside resort which is complemented by the natural setting of the Mere. Sea cobbles from the beaches, frequently used as a building material or many of the older cottages and terraces in the town, help give the town its unique character (HDWLP, 1999).
