Water
sports are becoming increasingly popular as a recreational pastime
and are enjoyed by people of all ages and physical ability. There
are various types of water sports which can be carried out at sea
or within confined inland water bodies, and also a number of clubs
and associations which provide expert instruction and training on
boat handling skills and water sport lessons.
Some general information on water sports can be found in the Holderness
District Wide Local Plan, adopted in 1999. Chapter 2.6 provides
information relating to water based recreation within the Holderness
area. Link

The best waves are surfed between autumn to early spring after and

Windsurfing
Windsurfing has become one of the most popular water sports in
Britain. It is estimated that 600,000 people were enjoying the sport
in the mid 1990s. The Royal Yachting Association says: "Blasting
along at 50mph, leaping 40ft waves, or simply enjoying the scenery
whilst cruising a local lake, this is a sport for all." The
safest way of getting started is to take a course on an enclosed
water, as at least you will eventually reach the other side.
