General Information on Beaches

beach

The coastline of East Yorkshire stretches approximately 75km from the chalk headland of Flamborough Head to the Humber estuary and boasts a number of sandy beaches. Bridlington has award winning beaches and a packed programme of entertainment to make it the ideal resort for all the family. Just north of Bridlington, the breathtaking Heritage coast of Flamborough includes some of the tallest cliffs in the country and provides a haven for thousands of sea birds. Further south down the Holderness coast, the quieter resorts of Hornsea and Withernsea offer the holiday maker a different but no less attractive experience, the adventurous will also want to discover Spurn Point, a unique peninsula on the very edge of the land (Yorkshire Tourist Board).

For information on beach cleanliness and approved bathing beaches along the Holderness coast, please carry out a general search under Environment.

Barmston and Skipsea are both highlighted under the UK Good Beach Guide, and information can be accessed by referring to their individual Parish webpages.
For the facilities provided at beaches during the busier tourist times, refer to the individual Parish webpages of Bridlington, Hornsea and Withernsea under Recreation for further details.
