Centre Director - Philip Norton
Philip has co-ordinated all the centre's activities since its foundation at Hull University in 1992, where he has been lecturing since 1977 and Professor of Government since 1986. In 1998 he was elevated to the Peerage as Lord Norton of Louth. He chaired the Commission to Strengthen Parliament, which reported in 2000, and the House of Lords Constitution Committee from 2001 to 2004. Philip has written seminal publications on parliamentary dissent, as well as British, European and international legislatures.
Director of International Legal Research - Jo Carby-Hall
Jo taught in the Law School at Hull University before retiring and taking up the position of the Director of International Legal Research in the Centre. He holds visiting professorships at a number of universities and is a regular presenter at international conferences. He is also an honorary consul for Poland and has received the OBE for his work.
Legislative Studies Lecturer - Cristina Leston Bandeira
Cristina has been at the centre since arriving from Lisbon to take her PhD in Legislative Studies. She is now a senior lecturer in legislative studies and undertaking a major ESRC-funded research project on how parliaments manage their image.
Editorial Assistant - Sally Clark
Sally co-ordinates the material for the Journal - liaising with publishers, keeping everyone to deadlines and advising contributors on how to put research forward for publication to the Journal.
Research Associate - Mark Stuart
Mark Stuart has served as researcher at the Centre as well as in the Politics Department at Nottingham University, specialising in analysing voting behaviour in the House of Commons. He has also written biographies of Douglas Hurd and John Smith.
Internet Editor - Craig Beaumont
Craig set up and maintains this website. A former undergraduate and postgraduate student at the Department, he served as a researcher at the Centre before working at 10 Downing Street, in industry and now in the communications and public affairs team at the London 2012 Organsing Committee (LOCOG).
Visiting Scholar - Greg Power
Greg is a visiting scholar in the Centre in 2011-12 while completing major research for the Inter-Parliamentary Union on connecting parliaments and citizens.
