How to get to Hull

Middle of nowhere? Wrong. Well, half-right. Because we are slap-bang in the centre of the country, roughly halfway between Edinburgh and London. So if you think about it, we’re actually the perfect location. Close enough to the cities you’re familiar with, far enough to get away from home and start gaining your independence.

And Hull’s road, rail, air and sea links are so good that students can easily get to us from all over the country, and in fact from all over the world.

Hull is really easy to get to by car. It’s just two and a half hours from major cities like Newcastle and Birmingham. Manchester’s less than two hours away, and you can drive from Leeds or Sheffield in just over an hour.

By rail

There are regular direct trains from London, taking as little as two and a half hours. There’s fast, direct access from northern England and Scotland, while destinations to the west are also well connected.

Once you reach Hull Paragon Interchange, it's easy to get a taxi or hop on a bus to campus.

By coach

Coaches to Hull are available via National Express and link with other national and European services.

The coach terminal is right next to the rail station. Coaches to London terminate at Victoria Station.

By air

Travelling by plane? No problem! Humberside Airport links to the world via Amsterdam Airport Schiphol.

Manchester, Leeds-Bradford and Doncaster-Sheffield airports can also be reached easily from here.

If you’re coming from further afield, daily ferries connect Hull to the Netherlands and Belgium.

What's the difference between Open Days and Offer Holder Days?

Although there are some similarities between Open Days and Offer Holder Days, we encourage you to come to an Offer Holder Day even if you’ve already attended an Open Day.

Offer Holder Days offer an opportunity to find out more detailed information about your course, modules and the department, as well as meet the lecturers, current students, and other applicants.

Choosing the right university for you is a huge decision. An Offer Holder Day will give you another chance to see the campus, accommodation and the city - to make sure you’re going to be happy studying and living here.
I can't make the event dates, can I visit on a different day?

Yes! We run weekly Campus Visits to give you a feel for what life is like at Hull.

If you really can't wait to visit our campus, you can explore our Virtual Tour to get a feel for the university before you visit.
Do I need to book to attend an Open Day?

Yes - we recommend that you register online. A programme for the day will be posted to you about a week before the event.
Can I bring friends or family?

Of course! We recommend you bring somebody with you to help you take in all of the information on the day, as well as ask any questions you may not have thought of asking.

Due to limited space on Offer Holder Days, we advise bringing a maximum of 2 guests.
