Research in advanced organic
materials has been continuing at Hull for the past 50 years, well
before many types of commercial applications evolved. For
example, our work on the synthesis of liquid-crystalline materials
in the 1970's brought forth the first commercially viable liquid
crystal materials for use in LCDs.
The Queen's
Award for Technological Achievement was conferred upon the University
in 1979 in recognition of this research.
Our
group currently
consists
of around 15 people, earning a world-wide reputation for the quality
and value of the work it performs. |
