Research in the Department of Computer Science

At the Department of Computer Science, we are proud of our dynamic and vibrant research community. Our research is organised into two research groups:

• Dependable, Reliable, Intelligent Systems (DRIS)
• Simulation and Visualization (SimVis)

Each research group has their own dedicated, newly-refurbished laboratories.

We also host a nationally funded research centre, the Hull Immersive Visualization Environment (HIVE).

Our research covers many disciplines and contributes to the major research themes within the Faculty of Science:

• Tele-medicine, tele-health and medical systems
• Energy and the Environment

Our research was submitted alongside other departments in the latest Research Assessment Exercise under the ‘General Engineering’ unit of assessment where 95% of research was rated of international quality.
