What you'll study

Attendance is one evening each week plus three block weeks in each year from September to May. Assessment is by means of one workplace-based assignment and one written examination held in June.

This one year part-time  Environmental Diploma, is ideal for students wishing to reinforce or further a career in the exciting and rapidly developing area of Environmental Management. The programme will enable you to demonstrate a high level of technical knowledge and understanding in the field.

The University is accredited by NEBOSH, the globally leading examination board for health, safety and environmental qualifications to deliver the Diploma. The Environmental Diploma forms the third year of the four year BSc(hons) in Safety and Environmental Management and enrolling on the Diploma means you will also be enrolled on the BSc! Progress through the course is flexible, allowing you to leave at the appropriate point if your wish is to attain the NEBOSH  Environmental Diploma. Alternatively, you can continue your studies and add the BSc qualification to your diploma.

Entry requirements

Applicants would normally hold the NEBOSH Health and Safety Diploma or an equivalent qualification leading to membership of IOSH.

Candidates with a level 3 health and safety qualification (e.g. the NEBOSH certificate or equivalent) and a suitable higher education qualification can also be considered. Please include a CV and copies of certificates when applying for a place.

International students

If you require a Tier 4 student visa to study or if your first language is not English you will be required to provide acceptable evidence of your English language proficiency level.

This course requires academic IELTS 6.0 overall, with no less than 5.5 in each skill. For other English language proficiency qualifications acceptable by this University, please click here.

The programme leads to a professional qualification that satisfies the requirements for non-chartered membership of the Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (MCIWEM) and specialist membership of International Institute of Risk and Safety Management (SIIRSM).
