About the course
Our pioneering Drama degree is the perfect mix of theory and practice, enabling you to fully develop your talents as a performer, critic, writer, technician or designer. Combine this with the opportunity to learn another language and you’ll graduate with high-level language and intercultural abilities, essential for the global job market. You can choose to study any language from Chinese, French, German, Italian or Spanish. Hull offers excellent language learning facilities, with a dedicated space for languages students. Our dedicated team of advisors offer one-to-one support and a partnership scheme which lets you practise your chosen language with native speakers.
Many drama students benefit from the vast amount of extra-curricular activities we have on offer. We indirectly support Z Theatre Company, who tour a number of productions each year to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
With Hull being the 2017 UK City of Culture, there could hardly be a better time to study drama here. You'll be at the heart of a huge cultural celebration, and be able to take advantage of our facilities including the the Gulbenkian Centre - a hub of activity for Drama students. A Grade ll listed building, it features a theatre, studios and workshop spaces. This is your home when studying drama at Hull. Working collaboratively with staff throughout your course, the aim is for you to take over this space, with students ultimately becoming responsible for every element of a production process. You'll also enjoy our new facilities – like Middleton Hall, where we've invested £9.5 million to create a world-class concert venue, music theatre and cinema, with industry-standard recording facilities.
