Students who pass the foundation year can continue with the BA Business Management course or transfer to any of the BA or BSc awards within the programme cluster or to related clusters (Marketing, Logistics and Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Financial Management, Business Economics, International Business).

BA (Hons) with a Year Abroad

You spend a year studying at one of our partner institutions in Europe, Asia, North America or Australia. This is an outstanding opportunity to broaden your horizons in a different culture and environment, learn new skills and develop valuable international contacts while continuing your studies.

BA (Hons) with an Industrial Placement

A fantastic opportunity to gain valuable skills and experience while you earn. Spend a year working in industry – gaining invaluable experience, creating potential contacts and developing your employability. Our professional experience programme provides the opportunity to work with companies like IBM, Boots, BP, Microsoft UK, PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Walt Disney Company.

About the course

Combining business management and financial management gives you the tools to be a financial specialist.

Our business management programmes are perfect if you want to develop a broad skill-set to help you deal with the complexity and diversity of the modern business world. You'll analyse how organisations work and discover how to seize the right opportunities at the right time. But you'll also learn how to be a responsible manager by considering legal and ethical issues. You'll study in state-of-the-art facilities under leading experts who'll bring theory to life with case studies, live projects and guest speakers. Our many professional accreditations reflect our relevance to the real world of business.

By to focusing on financial management, you'll develop an in-depth knowledge of the financial analysis of business operations, boosting your employability. You can also opt to spend a year of your programme in work, gaining invaluable experience and creating contacts. Or you could spend a year studying abroad with one of our partners across Europe, Asia, North America and Australia, giving your degree an international flavour. There are also opportunities to take part in international summer schools including destinations such as Copenhagen Business School and Hong Kong University.

Entry requirements

Foundation Year entry requirements:

  • The foundation year is designed for applicants whose qualifications and experience do not allow direct entry to the undergraduate degree.
  • We expect applicants to demonstrate an experience of a related subject and an aptitude for academic work which may be determined by an essay and/or interview alongside the application.
  • For applicants with A levels in subjects other than those key to the degree, we will usually require a minimum of 80 points from Level 3 qualifications.

International students

(language requirements)

If you require a Tier 4 student visa to study or if your first language is not English you will be required to provide acceptable evidence of your English language proficiency level.

This course requires IELTS 6.0 overall, with no less than 5.5 in each skill. For other English language proficiency qualifications acceptable by this University, please click here.
