Sam Rimmer More about this course The Biochemistry degree at Hull covers the fundamentals of chemistry and biology so that you can appreciate the fascinating interface between the two that leads to the complexity of life. You will be taught by world-leading staff who engage in a wide range of research. Our department was responsible for breakthroughs such as the application of Lab on a Chip to personalised medicine, ensuring that cutting edge science feeds directly into your course. The new £6 million state-of-the-art Allam Building, which links our biology and chemistry departments, is at the heart of biochemistry at the University. Our chemistry and biology departments don't just research cutting-edge science, they also innovate with their teaching. We use a whole range of 21st century teaching techniques, including lectures incorporating audience response systems, to give you a thorough grounding in scientific method and problem solving, enabling graduates to confidently work in the rapidly growing biochemical industry, or go on to further academic studies. The foundation English year has been designed for international students to prepare for university-level study in a British environment. The option of a foundation year is ideal for students who do not have the academic background for direct entry to a degree. There is a three year BSc study option and two four year MBiochem options including an opportunity for an industrial work placement. Biochemistry at Hull is extremely highly rated, and since the National Student Survey was introduced it has consistently scored well above 90% for student satisfaction.
