About the course
Please note, this programme is also available to study at undergraduate BSc level.
The Post Graduate Diploma in Midwifery is ideal for adult nurses on the NMC Register at Level 1, who hold a BSc degree in nursing. This is a part-time programme with start dates available in January and September.
At the University of Hull, our Faculty of Health and Social Care has strong engagement with patients, people who use services, their carers and friends, ensuring our programmes remain contemporary and relevant. Our professors’ research strengths in midwifery, and in maternal and sexual health, are applicable at all levels. Your degree is split 50:50 between classes and full-time mentored clinical placements with Hull and East Yorkshire, North East or North Lincolnshire NHS trusts, Leeds Hospitals, or at Scarborough Hospital. The course commences in February every year.
You will receive experience in a range of maternity care settings, including clients' homes, community clinics, hospitals and midwifery led birth units. On completion of the programme, you will be a qualified midwife, capable of providing a safe, competent and satisfactory experience for the childbearing woman, the baby, and the family.
