About Us

University of Hull

The Platform for Active Learning was created and developed by Dr Cristina Leston-Bandeira, Lecturer in Legislative Studies at the University of Hull. Cristina is the co-ordinator of the pioneering MA in Legislative Studies Online and is a C-SAP Associate (2007). She was awarded a University Teaching Fellowship in 2006 which recognises individual excellence in teaching in Higher Education.

Richard Woodward is also a member of the Platform. Richard is a Lecturer in Political Economy at the University of Hull. He has extensive experience in using the principle of active learning in his teaching, receiving very positive feedback from students.

Louise Cobb and Richard Kendall provide support to the project and are the website managers. They are former British Politics and Legislative Studies students at the University of Hull who spent a year in Parliament as part of their degrees. Both were involved in many teaching sessions of active learning as students.

We are not experts on teaching nor do we profess to have a research specialism in this area. We do enjoy teaching though and hope this website may be useful in disseminating ideas. The site has been developed for lecturers looking for new ideas in teaching.
