Vesco Paskalev joined the Law School in 2014 after completing his PhD at the European University Institute, Florence. His previous positions include researcher at the EUDO Citizenship Observatory at the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies (Florence), advisor to the Committee of European Integration of the Bulgarian parliament (2002-2005) and an adjunct lecturer in EU law. He was actively engaged with the green movement in Bulgaria and still counsels national and European environmental NGOs and writes complaints to the European Commission for infringement of biodiversity law.

He has also been visiting researcher at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies, Oxford University (2003-4) and at the London School of Economics (2010).
