Dr Olga Efremova joined the University of Hull in 2015 after completing an Inter-European Marie Curie Fellowship at Aston University.

Her current research is devoted to the development of novel metal cluster compounds, and bespoke materials based on them, for applications in biological and materials-based sciences.

She is intrigued by the unique optical properties (in particular luminescence) of these compounds and materials, and seeks to ingrate them into such applications as optical and / or X-ray medical imaging, sensing, photocatalysis, photovoltaics, self-sterilising surfaces and many others.
