Nick has more than 25 years' experience as a professional ornithologist and specialises in estuarine avifaunal communities.

He has carried out numerous surveys of estuarine and marine communities around the UK, with derived data used for a variety of purposes.

These include ornithological baseline characterisation, appropriate assessments, environmental impact assessments and habitat management.

Most recently, Nick has been investigating the effects of disturbance on waterbirds from a range of anthropogenic sources. The aim is to establish a better evidence base for consenting requirements, as well as tools to assist estuarine planners and managers.
