Mahrukh Doctor joined the lecturing staff in January 2006 and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Her main research interests are in the field of international political economy and comparative political economy.

Mahrukh has a special interest in development policy, trade and industry, infrastructure (ports), and regionalism in Latin America, with a particular focus on Brazil.

She has published on Brazilian business-state relations, Brazilian foreign policy in the context of rising powers, and EU-Mercosur negotiations / relations.

Research groups

Currently working on a collaborative research project on business lobbying in Brazil with Prof Wagner Mancuso at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Involved in research for projects in collaboration with the ANPOCS Working Group on Business and Collective Action (Brazil), the International Motor Vehicle Program (IMVP) based at MIT (Boston) and Wharton Business School (Philadelphia) and the Mercosur Chair of Sciences Po (Paris) related to business-state relations, industrial development strategies, and EU-Mercosur negotiations respectively.
