Lecturer in Sports Coaching and Performance
Dr John Toner is a lecturer in sports coaching and performance whose research interests include exploring how skilled performers achieve continuous improvement. His PhD, completed at University College Dublin in 2009, was entitled An Experimental Investigation of the Effects of Conscious Processing on Skilled Performance in Golf Putting. This research was funded by a postgraduate scholarship from the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences (IRCHSS). Dr Toner went on to work as a researcher for Sports Coach UK, a national organisation dedicated to supporting the training and development of sports coaches, before joining the University of Hull.
